Ip'id: The Tests of Friendship

I have heard—When Ip’id was a teen, he learned the ways of girls and love from Dahnii; they were willing victims of innocence. She carried brown hair, black pearl eyes and soft looking skin.

Together they studied, played and talked of the lives they would have as they grew into adulthood - their young minds didn't comprehend old age. They would always say, “We’ll be friends together always.”

One day an older boy whispered into their virgin ears, “Try these black seeds and wine and journey inward and never leave this spot.” He promised delights unlike what they'd experienced before. Ip'id refused.

Ip’id new something was wrong when Dahnii failed to visit and study with him; he searched for days, then found her dazed and full of false stimulation with the older boy. Before them, Ip'id spoke of their destructive deeds, but Dahnii showed no interest, as Ip'id heard this, his heart grew concerned.

She remained with the older boy for weeks into months, and with a polluted mind, the older boy soon abandoned her for another. Dahnii was then alone with addictions and frightened. Ip’id never forgot about Dahnii, and heard she sought him out.

After months apart, they faced each other, he shuttered as her once clear dark eyes and fine skin appeared troubled from the inside. The weight of shame lowered her head, unable to make eye contact. She then uttered, "I’m not worthy of your presence or friendship - I was weak and stupid, nor did I listen when you tried to help me."

“To be apart is to learn of our weakness and true love of our friendship,” Ip'id then said, "but tell me, Dahnii, how were those seeds and wine?” her shameful smile affirmed their untiring friendship and her recovery.
